Ann Genevieve Sy-Camet hailed from a very humble beginning in Olongapo, Philippines. Like many immigrants, she stepped foot in the United States almost 17 years ago with courage in her heart and a big dream of making it in the land of milk and honey. Looking back at the life she had built; she could not help but be grateful and feel overwhelmed at how far she has come.
Ann earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Trinity College of Quezon City, Manila in 1999. She then worked as a staff nurse at one of the country’s premier hospitals, St. Luke’s Medical Center soon after passing the local boards in a Coronary Care Unit. An opportunity to work as a nurse in Virginia USA, found her working with open-heart patients in an Intermediate Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Virginia Hospital Center. She learned to quickly adapt to the culture, challenges, and daily rigors in her new country. More importantly, she realized the rewards of hard work and the gratification that comes with pride and joy in one’s profession. Two years later, she explored different options with agency nursing and other positions in three other different hospitals in Washington DC and Virginia such as George Washington University Hospital, Reston Hospital, Prince William Hospital and Loudoun Hospital. These nursing work experiences taught her to be even more flexible and resilient to the varying demands and challenges of the job.
Ann’s nursing background had drawn her to select Celebree School as the next step in her career. The company’s profile mirrors the innate nature of nurses “to protect, educate and nurture.” A mom herself, Ann found her passion and commitment to care for children and serve the local community. With her husband’s unwavering support, Ann joined the Celebree family in February of 2020.
Ann lives in South Riding, Virginia with her husband, two teenage sons and a 4-year-old daughter. They support their community and actively volunteer in their church nursery and kids’ camps. Most recently, they also participated in the Loudoun Covid Resource group, a platform to provide neighbors to connect and help each other during the pandemic crisis. Ann also supports the organization, Food for the Hungry, wherein she sponsored a child from International Justice Mission, who is a victim of either, violence, forced labor, or sex trafficking. In her personal time, Ann enjoys spending time with her children, baking, doing artwork and traveling with her family.
